Jonghwan Jeong(b. South Korea, 1996)
is based in Netherland.

I believe that human essence is revealed in the face of undeniable power. Such as time, gravity, destiny, desire, and social system. I sense helplessness as a human being and as an individual of society from it. My works reveal social structure and political discourse in a paradoxical and humorous way.

‘Repetition’ is a big part of the process of my work. Repetition acts as a means to transcend the limits of existence. Various forms of repetition are confirming the existence of the subject. It depicts an image that continually takes back time and space. At the same time, it becomes a vital gesture to resist undeniable power. The struggling creates an atmosphere of chronic melancholy in my work.
I look at the world from the perspective of the philosophical theories of nomadism and determinism. And ask questions about my own existence to the society and the world.
