About

Jonghwan Jeong (b. South Korea, 1996)/ based in Netherlands.

I investigate the dominant relationship between individuals and social structures in everyday life. There are no limits on the medium. The working process dismantles and subverts that unilateral relationship. The absurdity within the structure and the resulting fundamental sense of powerlessness do not disappear. It leads to fundamental reflection about the individual within society and the essence of human existence.

The characteristic of my work is that it expands from a highly personal perspective and is interpreted into universal language. The numerous metaphors in everyday life overlap, creating social and political significance. The struggle of resistance against the structures surrounding the individual is expressed paradoxically and in a humorous way.
